Founded in 1694, Burlington County was part of the land settled by the original West Jersey Proprietors. The county's strategic location along the Delaware River and its position across the whole state of New Jersey, "from river to ocean," provided an early haven to diverse populations - Native American, Quaker, Methodist, indentured servant, freeman, farmer, and more.
